Work you'll do

 

Our Customs & Global Trade Advisory team helps companies navigate the complex maze of customs and trade rules, manage compliance risks and maximize cost and duty savings opportunities associated with the import and export of goods around the world.

 

For the new hire, we are interested in candidates who have the right academic background and work experience in the field of customs, excise tax and international trade.

 

Responsibilities:

As a Deloitte advisor, the selected candidate is expected to provide customs, international trade and excise tax services (advisory, planning, due diligence, compliance reviews, etc) to multinational clients in a variety of industries:

 

Manager - Senior Manager: 

 

  • Provide advisory services on global trade, import-export taxes and customs to multinational and domestic companies
  • Conduct training on global trade, import-export activities and customs regulations within the Firm and for clients  
  • Build and develop technical team of global trade and customs services, and manage the daily activities of the team
  • Establish a strong leadership brand by inspiring others through passion, integrity, and appreciation.
  • Create opportunities to drive impact by leveraging each person’s strengths to build high performing teams.
  • Apply deep knowledge of trends and activity to drive continuous improvement.
  • Build lasting relationships across a diverse network.
  • Translate and communicate broader strategy into a convincing team vision and goals, in order to align the team and sets priorities to achieve objectives.
  • Actively contribute to building the talent pipeline by championing a talent experience that attracts, develops and retains top talent and high performing teams.
  • Manage diverse teams within a highly inclusive team culture where team members feels supported, respected and engaged.

 

Associate - Assistant Manager:

  • Conduct research and analysis of a wide range of customs, international trade and excise tax issues related to business transactions in Thailand under international (WTO/WCO), regional (ASEAN, etc.) and Thai regulations to advise multinational companies on global import and export strategies and compliance requirements.
  • Support Clients with the development and execution of duty/ excise tax minimization and supply chain optimization strategies by utilizing Free Trade Agreements, customs privilege schemes and transaction restructuring.
  • Support Clients in managing the risks of international trade from a customs compliance perspective, with a specific focus on valuation, customs classification, import and export controls and dealing with customs authorities. 
  • Provide assistance to Partner, Director and Manager in handling client portfolios and assignments, as well as the preparation of workshops, seminars and conferences. 
  • Engage in cross-border projects as part of an integrated Customs & Global Trade network in the APAC region to deliver multinational clients tailor made solutions.

Requirements:

 

Associate - Assistant Manager: 

  • Bachelor or Master's Degree in Law, Economics, Taxation or a related field (trasde related is an advantage, but not a requirement) 
  • No prior working experience is required, but internships and work experience up to 1 year are an advantage
  • 2 or more years of working experience in providing customs, international trade, excise and/or other related tax/legal services in a law or consulting firm, multinational company or government authority
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with a strong command of English 
  • Demonstrate interest in international trade and/or international business
  • Creative thinker; a thirst for knowledge; good reasoning, processing and analytical skills; efficient multi-tasker, strong interpersonal skills
  • Able to manage work under pressure
  • Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint

 

Manager - Senior Manager:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in International Studies, Law, Business or Accounting
  • At least 7 years’ experience working in a consulting or legal firm 
  • Experience in managing a small, diverse and dynamic team
  • Project management experience indicating strong organizational, data management, project planning, project execution, and people skills
  • Business management and financial leadership experience indicating ability to plan and manage budgets, financials, and operations
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills and with a high attention to detail you will draw on your corporate and commercial experience to think strategically to achieve the firm’s objectives and build strong relationships
  • The ability to think strategically to achieve the firm’s objectives and build strong relationships.
  • Experience with export/import, trade and customs regulations, including advising on supply chain optimization, rules of origin, free trade agreements, valuation, trade remedies, anti-dumping, licensing requirements, accessing facilities will be an advantage.
