Work you'll do

 

Our Customs & Global Trade Advisory team helps companies navigate the complex maze of customs and trade rules, manage compliance risks and maximize cost and duty savings opportunities associated with the import and export of goods around the world.

 

For the new hire, we are interested in candidates who have the right academic background and work experience in the field of customs, excise tax and international trade.

 

Responsibilities:

As a Deloitte customs & trade advisor, the selected candidate is expected to provide customs, trade and excise advisory services (trade advisory, customs planning, due diligence, compliance reviews, etc.) to multinational clients in a variety of industries:

  • Conduct research on a wide range of customs, trade and excise issues related to import/export transactions in Thailand under international (WTO/WCO), regional (ASEAN) and Thai regulations and assist in the preparation of advice for our clients on import and export in Thailand
  • Support our clients with the development and execution of customs duty/ excise tax minimization and supply chain optimization strategies by analyzing and applying Free Trade Agreements, special customs procedures and customs/trade incentive schemes
  • Support our clients in managing the risks of international trade from a customs compliance perspective, with a specific focus on tariff classification, customs valuation, rules of origin, import and export controls. This work includes due diligences, compliance reviews and dispute resolution with government authorities (Customs, Department of Foreign Trade)  
  • Attend and assist in meetings with clients and government authorities
  • Provide assistance in handling client portfolios and assignments, as well as the preparation of workshops, seminars and conferences 
  • Engage in cross-border projects as part of an integrated Customs & Global Trade network in the APAC region to deliver clients tailor made solutions.

Requirements:

Associate

  • Bachelor or Master's Degree in Law, Economics, Taxation or a related field (trasde related is an advantage, but not a requirement) 
  • No prior working experience is required, but internships and work experience up to 1 year are an advantage
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with a strong command of English 
  • Demonstrate interest in international trade and/or international business
  • Creative thinker; a thirst for knowledge; good reasoning, processing and analytical skills; efficient multi-tasker, strong interpersonal skills
  • Able to manage work under pressure
  • Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint

 

Senior Consultant and above

  • Bachelor or Master’s Degree in Law, Economics, Taxation or a related field
  • 2 or more years of working experience in providing customs, international trade, excise and/or other related tax/legal services in a law or consulting firm, multinational company or government authority
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with a strong command of English
  • Project management and coaching skills, confident, with a strong business sense
  • Creative thinker; a thirst for knowledge; good reasoning, processing and analytical skills; efficient multi-tasker
  • Business oriented and communicative, in order to deal with clients
  • Able to manage work under pressure
  • Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
