Work you'll do


This is your opportunity to join Deloitte's market-leading Portfolio Lead Advisory Services (PLAS) team. You will benefit from working with one of the most experienced teams in the field as well as colleagues across the Deloitte network, advising financial institutions, regulators, investors and governments on all aspects of loan portfolio transactions. As part of the PLAS Asia team, the role will focus across all of South East Asia giving you wide exposure to global blue chip financial sector clients.


Working within PLAS as part of the firm's Financial Advisory practice, you will be expected to provide advice and lead, on a day-to-day basis, a wide range of restructuring and financial asset portfolio transaction projects within the financial services sector. 

The sort of work that you will get involved in includes:


  • Strategic portfolio reviews.
  • Deleveraging plans.
  • Strategic options analysis.
  • Pricing analysis.
  • Loan portfolio sale and acquisition transactions.

As an Assistant Director within PLAS, you will be expected to:


  • Support Financial Institutions clients through the portfolio analysis process, developing outstanding technical skills and commercial awareness.
  • Lead teams in the design and development of financial analysis in order to enhance our diverse range of clients' decision making processes.
  • Lead buy and sell side loan portfolio transactions on a day-to-day basis, acting as the primary client contact and managing the wider transaction team, including:
    • Portfolio identification and shaping.
    • Indicative pricing.
    • RE collateral information collection, validation and organization.
    • Portfolio data / information preparation.
    • Transaction process design and execution.
    • Data room set-up and management.
    • Buyer / investor liaison and canvassing.
    • Commercial terms design and negotiation.
    • Bid analysis and negotiation.
    • Client reporting throughout.
  • Work to extremely tight deadlines in the face of competing priorities whilst adding value on complex, high profile and sensitive projects.
  • Take an active role in business development initiatives with specific client and geography responsibilities and revenue / financial targets.
  • Be innovative in developing client solutions and also in driving the PLAS strategy forward.
  • Actively support the wider range of PLAS projects and initiatives as and when required.

To qualify for the role, you should ideally have:


  • Financial services / Banking knowledge and relevant past experience with an understanding of the regional market.
  • MS office skills including advanced Excel modelling and PowerPoint proficiency.
  • Proficiency in written and spoken English, Mandarin and Malay.
  • Flexibility and willingness to travel and spend significant periods of time outside of the home office.


In addition, the following experiences and skillsets are preferred:


  • Demonstrable experience of transaction services and restructuring services.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently.
  • Strong business diagnostic skills and the ability to apply a logical and analytical approach to problem solving.
  • A methodical and logical mind-set to problem solving, an effective approach to time management and the ability to work to tight deadlines.
  • Demonstrated strong team leadership and communication skills.
  • Demonstrated an ability to work pragmatically and for decision making in the absence of a set and validated framework.
  • Solid commercial acumen:
    • Client focussed with the ability to establish strong working relationships.
    • Market focused with the ability to identify and source new opportunities.
    • A broad perspective of the potential issues encountered when managing diverse teams and of the strategies to overcome them.
