Work you’ll do

 

Deloitte is growing our economics advisory practice in Southeast Asia. Our services include forecasting, modelling, policy analysis, feasibility studies and strategy consulting, our work spans various industry sectors and virtually all areas of economic and social policy. 
 
As part of our growth, we are currently seeking economic analysts at a range of levels to join our Malaysia office. Our focus is to assist Government agencies and commercial organizations across the SEA region on a challenging variety of business dilemma (e.g. within the infrastructure, transport, financial services, industry policy, health, digital economy, social policies, etc.), and will give you the opportunity to challenge yourself by:

 

  • Applying a variety of quantitative and qualitative analytical frameworks, models, and techniques to analyse economic issues.
  • Developing evidence-based policy options and advice to support decision making, policy development and implementation.
  • Drafting and communicating findings in reports and compelling presentations to influence key decision makers at Government and regulatory levels, to assist with corporate strategic planning and to contribute to improved business bottom-line performance.
  • Liaising with clients and assisting in the development of new business opportunities.
  • Advancing your skills in economics alongside Deloitte’s network of experienced economists around the world.
  • You will help clients to influence the economic policy debate, participate in regulatory and policy developments, and plan for the future.

Requirements

 

  • Min a bachelor’s degree in economics, public policy, or finance or any related field with exposure in statistics or econometrics; candidates who have undertaken an Honours year or a post-graduate degree in a related field will have an added advantage. 
  • Possesses strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Possesses a strong understanding of statistics and hands-on experience using statistical packages, such as R, SAS, SPSS, and STATA. 
  • Experience in data analytics and econometrics is an added advantage.
  • Experience with some of the following tools and methodologies is an added advantage: Input-Output modelling; economic cost-benefit analysis; socio-economic impact analysis; programme logic models and theory of change.
  • Previous experience in other consulting firms or specialist economic agencies (such as a central bank or economic research house, or similar) would be an advantage.
  • In the context of a growing team, we are interested in meeting junior to highly experienced individuals; your level within the Deloitte structure and salary will reflect the extent of your experience.
