Role Overview
The role combines hands‑on involvement in tax work with strong organisational and coordination support to ensure smooth delivery of client services, effective time management, and compliance with internal and regulatory requirements. The position requires professionalism, confidentiality, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced professional services environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in the preparation of tax computations, tax returns, schedules, and related documentation for individual and/or corporate clients.
- Support tax compliance and advisory engagements by collating client information, maintaining working papers, and tracking statutory deadlines.
- Liaise with clients and tax authorities on routine tax matters, follow‑ups, and correspondence.
- Coordinate engagement administration, including engagement documentation, billing support, monitoring of WIP, and tracking of disbursements or client trust accounts.
- Provide direct support to Partner(s), including calendar management, meeting coordination, travel arrangements, and management of correspondence.
- Act as a key point of contact between Partner(s), clients, and internal teams, ensuring timely communication and follow‑through. Organise meetings, prepare agendas and materials, and follow up on action items arising from discussions.
- Prepare, format, proofread, and maintain client deliverables, internal reports, presentations, and correspondence.
- Maintain orderly and confidential records, both physical and electronic, in accordance with firm policies and regulatory requirements.
- Support internal processes, trackers, and reporting, including ad‑hoc administrative or operational tasks as required by Partner(s) or management.
- Assist the wider tax team during peak periods and contribute to process improvements where appropriate.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Taxation, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Working knowledge of Malaysian tax compliance requirements is an advantage.
- Experience supporting senior stakeholders is preferred.
- Strong organisational and time‑management skills with the ability to multitask and prioritise effectively.
- High level of professionalism, discretion, and confidentiality.
- Good written and verbal communication skills in English; Bahasa Malaysia and/or Mandarin is an advantage.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
