In this role, you will cover the region while being based in Singapore and report directly to the General Counsel, and play an important part in dealing with legal risk in the SEA Office of the General Counsel (SEA OGC), Reputation and Risk Group.

Work you’ll do

 

Responsibilities:

  • Advise on and participate in the matters of the OGC, with a primary focus on advising on and managing contentious and litigious matters affecting the firm, and supporting the OGC and/or coordinating with external counsel where necessary on such matters.
  • Candidate must be prepared to develop general corporate skills and support with advice, drafting and negotiations in a broad range of commercial contracts with internal and external clients and suppliers, such as regional and global engagement arrangements, confidentiality agreements, referrals, teaming and sub-contracting arrangements, and tenders.
  • Travelling (once permitted) may be required from time to time.
  • Assist in the creation and implementation of legal policies, rules and guidelines, precedent bases for SEA and support the development of Deloitte Asia-Pacific.
  • Remain updated on legal developments that affect or potentially affect the wider Deloitte network and continue to develop best practices tailored to Deloitte’s business needs.

 

Education Requirements:

  • A recognised LLB or JD from an established university, and a qualification in Singapore law.

 

Experience and Skills:

  • 5-8 years of relevant post-qualification experience in a reputable law firm, with a strong foundation in corporate and commercial work; and/or experience in a good in-house legal team. 
  • Ability to work independently in advising on and running (with some or minimal supervision), commercial litigation of a complex nature technically and/or of a cross-border nature.
  • Having some commercial/corporate experience (drafting, reviewing and negotiating commercial documents) is a plus.
  • Ability to engage confidently and effectively with different people across different seniorities, expertise, roles and culture.
  • Versatility in thinking and a large appetite for learning.
