Work you’ll do:

• Designing, developing, and maintaining scalable and secure backend services that power digital products.
• Collaborate with Business Analysts (BA) and Product Managers to refine user stories and translate them into technical requirements.
• Work with Quality Assurance (QA) engineers to ensure automated test coverage and proactively fix bugs and defects.
• Partner with DevOps teams to automate build, deployment, and monitor pipelines.
• Develop and maintain scalable, high-performance APIs and backend services in a cloud-native environment.
• Implement modern software development practices, including TDD, pair programming, and CI/CD.
• Conduct code reviews, enforce security best practices, and ensure software craftsmanship standards.
• Design and document system architecture, ensuring compliance with government security and regulatory standards.
• Optimize and improve backend systems for scalability, observability, and reliability.
• Where applicable, contribute to blockchain and smart contract development.

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer/Electronics Engineering, IT, or related field.
• Minimum 3 years of experience as a Full Stack Engineer.
• Proficient in at least one backend language: Java, Kotlin, Python, Golang, Node.js, or Ruby.
• Experience with Git and branching strategies (GitFlow, trunk-based development).
• Hands-on experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP).
• Strong knowledge of REST APIs, GraphQL, gRPC, and WebSockets.
• Experience with microservices, event-driven architecture, and messaging tools (Kafka, RabbitMQ).
• Familiarity with Docker, Kubernetes, and CI/CD tools (GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, ArgoCD).
• Knowledge of databases such as PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB, DynamoDB, and Redis.
• Experience with observability tools (Prometheus, OpenTelemetry, Grafana, ELK) and API documentation (Swagger).
• Exposure to Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, CloudFormation, Pulumi).

Software Engineering practices:

• Experience working in Agile environments (Scrum/Kanban).
• Knowledge of XP practices including TDD, pair programming, and continuous refactoring.
• Experience with test automation frameworks (JUnit, PyTest, Jest, Playwright).
• Strong commitment to clean, maintainable, and efficient code.

Added advantage:

• Knowledge of Domain-Driven Design (DDD) and Clean Architecture.
• Experience with government digital services and authentication systems (e.g., SingPass, CorpPass).
• Familiarity with API gateways/service meshes (Kong, Istio, Apigee).
• Experience with serverless technologies (AWS Lambda, Azure Functions).
• Exposure to blockchain and smart contract development (Ethereum, Solidity, Hyperledger).
