Work you’ll do:
The Artificial Intelligence & Data team leverages the leverages the power of data, analytics, data engineering, advanced analytics, AI/ML, Generative AI, Agentic AI, science and cognitive technologies to uncover hidden relationships from vast troves of data, generate insights, and inform decision-making. Together with the Strategy practice, our Strategy, Growth & Innovation portfolio helps clients transform their business by architecting organizational intelligence programs and differentiated strategies to win in their chosen markets.
The Data Platform Architect is Deloitte Government and Public Services' technical authority for data platform engagements on Snowflake and/or Databricks - spanning technical leads who own detailed architecture and delivery, through to enterprise architects who set target-state design and advise CxO stakeholders. Across this range, the Architect ensures every platform is designed to deliver trustworthy, governed data and real AI-driven insight, so platforms are built for responsible and secure AI adoption within Singapore's regulated public-sector technology environment.
Primary responsibilities include:
- Lead client conversations on data strategy, target-state architecture, and platform modernisation roadmaps - acting as the primary technical advisor to CxO and senior public-sector stakeholders at the Director end of the role, and as the day-to-day technical point of contact for delivery leads and workstream stakeholders at the Manager end.
- Design enterprise and solution architectures for modern data platforms (lakehouse, data mesh, data warehouse modernisation) on Snowflake and/or Databricks - from detailed technical design, sprint plans, and build standards at Manager grade, through to enterprise-level target-state architecture at Director grade.
- Define the architecture that connects data pipelines to AI/ML, GenAI, and agentic workflows - e.g. Snowflake Cortex, Databricks Mosaic AI/MLflow, vector search, RAG patterns, and AI agents consuming governed data products - applying Deloitte's Trustworthy AI™ framework so platforms are designed from the outset for responsible, governed AI adoption rather than retrofitted later.
- Design and validate architectures against Singapore's public-sector technology and security requirements - including alignment with the Singapore Government Tech Stack (SGTS, SHIP-HATS and others), the Government Data Architecture (Single Sources of Truth, Trusted Centres, and whole-of-government data-sharing patterns), deployment on Government on Commercial Cloud (GCC), compliance with IM8 security policy.
- Own technical governance across engagements: architecture review, standards, and reusable accelerators for the practice - applying and evolving Deloitte's own data platform reference architectures, developing new ones where none exist, and reconciling them with relevant Singapore Government reference architectures (e.g. under SGTS and the GDA) so client solutions are both best-practice and compliant.
- Manage and mentor Data Platform Engineers: allocate work, review code and design decisions, unblock technical issues, and uphold engineering quality (testing, CI/CD, documentation) - with the scope of direct team leadership scaling with grade.
- Shape proposals and tender responses (solution design, technical win themes, estimation) and support business development and pre-sales.
- Act as escalation point for complex technical risk across engagements, and provide technical leadership and mentorship across the Data Platform capability.
- Stay ahead of the Snowflake/Databricks roadmap, the broader data & AI ecosystem, and evolving Singapore Government technology standards to keep Deloitte's offerings and reference architectures current.
