Role Overview:

  • Design and build a secure database and tracking system using information contained in a large Outlook email mailbox (approximately 10,000 emails) with classified and sensitive information.
  • This role is ideal for a student or recent graduate who is interested in data management, systems design, and problem-solving. There is no fixed system or platform requirement.

 

  • The intern will be encouraged to propose their own approach, tools, and ideas, under guidance, to transform unstructured email data into an organized, searchable system for business users.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Review and understand a large volume of Outlook emails and associated data
  • Assist in organizing and structuring email information into a database or tracking system
  • Help identify key data fields such as case file number, client name, and business unit, etc.
  • Support the development of a searchable and filterable system for end users
  • Document processes, assumptions, and system design decisions
  • Maintain confidentiality and adhere to all data security and information handling requirements
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to gather requirements and incorporate feedback

 

Requirements:

  • Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Analytics, or a related field
  • Basic understanding of databases, data structures, or spreadsheet-based systems
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Outlook and Excel (or similar tools)
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Willingness to learn, experiment, and propose solutions
  • Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information responsibly

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Exposure to SQL, Python, Power BI, Access, or similar tools
  • Basic knowledge of data cleaning or text processing
  • Interest in information management, compliance, or case-tracking systems
  • Prior coursework or projects involving databases or automation
